About the arranger, Susie Winkworth
I am a cellist. I love working to a bespoke brief and have a passion for transcription.
My arrangements have been performed across the globe; by Kanye West and Sam Smith, fusion diva Lizzie Ball and Classic FM chart-topper Kerenza Peacock. The English Chamber Orchestra, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, London Concertante, Musici Ireland and Belmont Ensemble have used my arrangements in concerts and outreach work, while tailor-made encores bring regular standing ovations for Trafalgar Sinfonia in London’s West End. June 2019 saw my largest arrangement performance to date, with a new orchestration of Bizet’s Carmen accompanying 1500 children from 35 schools and 4 professional singers at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Olympic Park. In collaboration with United Learning, the Royal Opera House, the English Pocket Opera Company and Voices Foundation, this was a HUGE event.
Education arrangements have been used by ensembles at Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Junior Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Hertfordshire Music Service, Tonbridge School, Christ’s Hospital School, Sherborne School, Westminster Cathedral Choir School and many more across the world.
Recent clients have included Classical Kicks and DJ Rob da Bank, who performed music prepared by WinkMusic at Bestival and the Venice Biennale; Sony, for the launch of the film Trainspotting 2 and the Netflix hit, The Crown; and the cellist Gabriella Swallow. WinkMusic produced custom-fit cover versions for Rightmove’s management awaydays, bringing ten musicians and 400 would-be singers together for a musical workshop. I also contributed the string arrangements for the album Somebody’s Child by singer-songwriter, Judith Owen, which featured in the Sunday Times Top 100 Albums of 2016.
